About The White Feather Fund

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to discover their potential, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Individual

Targeted Support

Helping students on pupil premium access the arts.

School Partnership

Partnering with schools so every child can take part during the school day.

Our Mission

The White Feather Fund was founded on the belief the creative arts should not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. We work to break down financial barriers that prevent children from accessing such opportunities.

By partnering with schools and funding music and performance lessons during school hours, we ensure that socio-economic background doesn't determine a child's future. Every child deserves the chance to discover their passion, build confidence and develop skills that will benefit them for life.

02 Lesson Planning
Qualified teachers from within the school will work with the students to ensure their weekly one-to-one lessons work around their normal timetable and the school's facilities.
03 Ongoing Support
Regular progress reviews, opportunities to receive Ofqual qualifications (and UCAs points) ensuring student success.

Why This Program Matters

The creative arts isn't just about learning an instrument, or performing a piece – it's about creating pathways to opportunity, belonging and personal development.

The Gap We're Filling

The Challenge

Many talented children from disadvantaged backgrounds never get the chance to explore music because of financial barriers. Peripatetic lessons can cost £23-£50 per session, making them inaccessible to families on low incomes. This creates a cycle where these opportunities are predominantly available to children from affluent families, limiting diversity within the creative industries.

Our Solution

By funding peripatetic lessons during the school hours for children on pupil premium, we remove both financial and logistical barriers. Students don't need to arrange transport or take time off school. This model ensures that musical talent can be nurtured regardless of family circumstances, creating a more equitable landscape for music education and artistic development.

Meet The Founder

“My inspiration comes from working with children who do not have access to performing arts tuition, due to financial barriers."

Rebecca Marangos

Rebecca Marangos is a qualified theatre director, dramaturg and acting coach with over 15 years’ experience. She has spent a decade working with secondary school students in state schools, where she became passionate about helping disadvantaged children access the arts.

One transformative experience involved a student at risk of “falling through the net.” Struggling academically, he initially showed interest in acting but quickly became discouraged. Rebecca introduced him to a poem, which he reimagined as a rap, unlocking a new sense of confidence, voice and belonging.

This moment, and many like it, inspired Rebecca to launch The White Feather Fund, to give every child the opportunity to discover their potential through performance.
